By claiming the deviation of Western metaphysical thought and in opposition to the prevailing scientism tradition of his time, Heidegger attempted to revive Greek thought, remove the meanings of philosophical terms from their previous rigid state, familiarize contemporary man with Greek ontology, and present philosophy as a non-scientific and fundamental knowledge. In this regard, he has interpreted various Greek terms from the pre-Socratic era to Plato and Aristotle. Among these terms is the term ἐπαγωγῆς, which Heidegger does not consider merely a method of inductive reasoning, but rather, first of all, regards it as a way of human encountering the world and a specific mode of consciousness. The following article addresses the question of whether, given Heidegger’s view of ἐπαγωγῆς, this method can be considered as the foundation and basis of hermeneutic phenomenology? Since phenomenology is an orienting method that places Dasein in an open position to the realm of being, the phenomenologist must, instead of any a priori judgment, allow the object itself to emerge and manifest itself as it truly is. In paraphrasing close to this literature, Heidegger considers ἐπαγωγῆς as a method that guides man towards the object in order to establish (understand or designate) on its basis. Therefore, both ἐπαγωγῆς and phenomenology in Heidegger’s thought have a two-faced disposition, with man or Dasein on one side and the object on the other, and of course, the most important feature of both methods is their orientation towards the world. In addition, both methods provide a basis for man or Dasein to reach its original position, i.e., existence.
