Among the meaningful and efficacious Islamic and Christian teachings, the doctrine of grace (emanation) holds a high status. Khwāja Naṣīr al-Ṭūsī and Thomas Aquinas, representatives of the two Abrahamic religions (Islam and Christianity) - who happened to be contemporaries - have brought up well-reasoned theological discussions on this topic in their books during the classical scholastic period. The main question of the present research is whether Divine grace (emanation) offers a facilitated way to succeed and act on the laws and Shari'a of the Supreme Creator? Or is it a kind of Divine-mystical invitation that is used to shorten the path to salvation? The authors try to examine the similarities and differences between the theories of Thomas Aquinas and Khwāja Naṣīr al-Ṭūsī, as two contemporary philosophers-theologians, using a descriptive-analytical method. The data in this article show that the discourses of emanation and grace do not lead to a single conclusion from the perspectives of Thomas and Khwāja. In Thomas’s view, the original nature of man is damaged due to original sin; therefore, man cannot be saved except by Divine grace, but Khwāja considers grace as separate from original sin and views it a product of God’s wisdom.
