Some contemporary thinkers have considered all the problems of various sciences, especially the field of environment, to be due to the belief in metaphysics. According to Lynn White, as a representative of this viewpoint, the belief in the existence of Christian-Western metaphysics is the root of nihilism and all the problems of the present era, especially in the field of environment. A critical review of White’s article from an ecological-philosophical perspective and an explanation and representation of the fallacious points contained therein constitute the focus and basis of the present article. The groundlessness of existence, the lack of meaning, the foundation of the human self (subjectivism) have been the immediate result of Western metaphysics (and not Christian, according to White), in the sense of metaphysics. On the other hand, the belief in the existence of a world beyond the sensible (the rational world) lies in the essence of theistic metaphysics (metaphysics). Belief in God as the foundation of existence forms the basis of morality in this metaphysics, which creates theoretical and practical obligations for man and in practice restrains his actions. This is while what imposes itself on science, industry, and the dominant way of life of man, especially in his approach to the environment and natural resources, is not and has not been of the type of Christian metaphysics, but rather the idea of capitalism and consumerism, which is inherently based on the futility of existence and creation, the meaninglessness of life and its futility. Metaphysics is inherently theistic, providing the necessary and sufficient conditions for a meaningful life while properly orienting human life around God
